God created the light to dispel the darkness and chaos over all the earth. "Let there be light”; and there was light. God saw that the light was good (pleasing, useful), and He affirmed and sustained it; and God separated the light [distinguishing it] from the darkness. (Genesis 1:3-4)
Light allows us to see in the world by distinguishing the darkness of this world. God's word is a lamp that shows us how to live and walk; our spiritual compass.
Providing direction, God's word helps us avoid wrong paths and stumbling. Jesus' word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. (Psalm 119:105) The way of the righteous [those in right-standing with God--living in moral and spiritual integrity] is smooth and level;
O Upright One, make a level path for the just and righteous. (Isaiah 26:7) We are fighting a war against Satan, who seeks to destroy us. Satan comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. Jesus came that they may have life and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]. (John 10:10) The devil sets traps for us every day with his lies.
Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil. Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious]. (Ephesians 6:11,13) If you abide in My word [continually obeying My teachings and living in accordance with them, then] you are truly My disciples. (John 8:31) Letting God's word shape our lives and soak into our minds by
meditating on God's word day and night.
We revolve our life around His word
by hearing and abiding in His word. Receiving the word of God in our life and living by it, this is the true blessing belonging to those who are known by their obedience. Blessed (happy, favored by God) are those who hear the word of God and continually observe it. (Luke 11:27) The life to live is a life committed to Christ. When we choose this life, we are sure to have a life of abundance, hope, and peace. Jesus will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on Him [both inclination and character], Because he trusts and takes refuge in Him and His word. (Isaiah 26:3)
