I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life. (John 8:11) Once were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of Light [live as those who are native-born to the Light]. (Ephesians 5:8) We don't belong to the darkness, leave behind the works and darkness.
He saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we have done, but because of His own compassion and mercy by the cleansing of the new birth (spiritual transformation, regeneration) and renewing by the Holy Spirit. (Titus 3:5) For the love of Christ controls and compels us, because we have concluded this, that One died for all, therefore all died; and He died for all, so that all those who live would no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and was raised for their sake.
He made Christ who knew no sin to [judicially] be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we would become the righteousness of God [that is, we would be made acceptable to Him and placed in a right relationship with Him by His gracious lovingkindness]. (2 Corinthians 5:14,21) Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for [nor even think about gratifying] the flesh in regard to its improper desires. (Romans 13:14) For you [who are born-again have been reborn from above--spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified and] are all children of God [set apart for His purpose with full rights and privileges] through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ [into a spiritual union with the Christ, the Anointed] have clothed yourselves with Christ [that is, you have taken on His characteristics and values]. And if you belong to Christ [if you are in Him], then you are Abraham’s descendants, and [spiritual] heirs according to [God’s] promise. (Galatians 3:26-27,29)
In Him, you also, when you heard the word of truth, the good news of your salvation, and [as a result] believed in Him, were stamped with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit [the One promised by Christ] as owned and protected [by God].
The Spirit is the guarantee [the first installment, the pledge, a foretaste] of our inheritance until the redemption of God’s own [purchased] possession [His believers], to the praise of His glory. (Ephesians 1:13-14) He hath clothed us with the garments of salvation and covered us with the robe of righteousness, they that are more beautiful than the jewelry worn by a bride or groom. (Isaiah 61:10) (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people) [the ethical conduct, personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character of believers]. (Revelation 19:8) Righteousness is a moral quality and a person's purity and holiness in their actions and heart.
This righteousness of God comes through faith in Jesus Christ, those who believe [and trust in Him and acknowledge Him as God’s Son]. (Romans 3:22)
